Q. How many Fly Kids are there? A. Nine—four boys and five girls. They are ethnically diverse. More characters will be added in the future. Q. Where do the Fly Kids come from? A. They come from 500 years in our future. Q. Why do the Fly Kids look so strange? A. The Fly Kids look different because they are transmutants, part human and part insect. Q. How did they come to be? A. In the year 2275, earth is a dying planet. A group of scientists is sent into deep space to find a planet to colonize. As they board the ship, several small stowaways join them—a family of an endangered species of flower-loving flies, a scarab beetle and a praying mantis. They go unnoticed until the ship encounters a dangerous magnetic field and a burst of fusion energy is released. All aboard are transformed into a new kind of being—part human, part insect. Q. Why do they come back to earth? A. The Fly Kids travel back through time to fulfill their mission of saving humankind. Their goal is to help kids find solutions to their problems and encourage them to become a positive force so earth’s dismal future can be forever altered and humankind will be saved. However, if their mission is successful and they change the future, it will mean that the Fly Kids will cease to exist. For the sake of the children, they are willing to make this ultimate sacrifice. Q. Why is Dr. Vendral so mean? A. Dr. Vendral is angry because he’s part human and part praying mantis but he looks more buggish than the other characters. Unlike the Fly Kids, Dr. Vendral believes humankind has already chosen its path of destruction, so he is unwilling to give up his own future. His goal is to take over Flyopolis one day, so he’s determined to see the Fly Kids’ noble cause fail. Q. Who is Grand Visor Thorax? A. He is the old and wise—part human, part scarab beetle—leader of the Flyolite people. Q. Who are the Kronizoids? A. They are robots created by Dr. Vendral to do his bidding. He can program them to look like anything, including humans. The Kronizoids, or “Kroneez” as the Fly Kids call them, try to manipulate earth kids into doing bad deeds. When hit by the Fly Kids’ prolumin rays, the Kronizoids are momentarily stunned and frozen in place. Q. Where do the Fly Kids live? A. They live in the vast Mojave Desert at their base called Flyopolis. It is a bustling City, invisible to humans, thanks to a camoshield created by Thorax. From this base, the Fly Kids travel the globe to assist children in need. Q. What are the Fly Kids’ special powers? A. The Fly Kids call upon “Zoomatude,” their inner strength, to transform to their four-armed and winged bodies and are energized with prolumin rays, positive energy they emit from the center of their palms. These rays can only be used against Dr. Vendral or his Kronizoids. Q. What is a zoton? A. A ball of high intensity positive energy the Fly Kids use to thwart off the Kronizoids. Q.
